Taking a break

Riggles had to go to court over by the coast this week. We weighed the idea of all going as a family for a little seaside break. It was back and forth whether we were going to head out or not all morning. It was 7 minutes before the school bus came to pick up Garrett when we decided just to go. I think the kid-o's liked the surprise when we told them. They love to stay at hotels...love to swim...and they travel really really well. The hardest part this trip was the wait in the small town of Montesano, Wa were Riggles had court. But after that, the jet to Ocean Shores was short and sweet and worth the wait.

Cold and Windy Wednesday Evening
Even with the ice cold water the kids had a blast running in and out of it letting the waves chase them. I admit I was a pansy and got one toe wet, whined and walked away. Quinna had to be carried back to the hotel because her feet were so cold and her pants were so wet that they kept falling off.

Warm warm warm on Thursday
Garrett thought it was great to fly the kite. He would have to steer and dodge away from the rocks that his Dad would throw up at the kite. (It wasn't too high) Garrett would crack up when it got hit.

Sandcastles, Sun and Smiles
I'm so glad we just picked up and left. Little breaks like this make your days go by better. I am so thankful that we get opportunities to do these kinds of things. I'm all ready planning our next getaway!!!

On the Trail

Garrett is now 8 and just joined Cub Scouts. He is super excited and has loved the past two den meetings. He says his favorite thing about Scouts is the cool uniform. Which I must say he looks very very handsome in. He is going to be earning his Bobcat in June and is looking forward to all the fun projects and jobs on the Wolf trail.

Spurts of Creativity

So, I'm not a very crafty person. I lack a lot of skill but I do enjoy a fun (easy) project now and then. The most recent one being the easy task of printing a picture to an iron paper and slapping it onto a pillow case. I made these for the Mom's on Mothers day...(Jaymi, yours is the one of Kevin..I just havn't sent it to ya yet.)

The Birthday cakes do not do Betty Crocker justice. I replicated them the best I could, but the lack of skill comes from the impatience of tedious work that seems to happen to me when the project takes longer than I want. (Just be done all ready will ya)

And my favorite is the Christmas hanger. I made this for my sis. After reading an online survey she filled out, she mentioned one of the worst presents she ever received was some hangers.' (Not from me) So being the loving sister I am I decided to make her the bestest hanger ever. Maybe she would one day learn to love this well thought out gift of love. I know I would.

Mothers Day

I'm so glad I'm a Mom. These four kid-o's are the best! Just now as I'm writing this Quinna comes down and says, "Mom, I love you the best..all the way to the moon and to Nana's house." Of course she is supposed to be in bed right now but with words like that how can I get mad. As great at is it now; I'm really looking forward to the Mothers Days when I don't have to clean up, cook or listen to them fight! I know that that time will come way too fast though. (Well, I don't know about the fighting part,) So I will try and cherish their messes now. Okay...maybe not cherish the messes but be more patient.

I'm so grateful for my Mom and her diligence and hard work. (And I'm glad she answers her phone when I'm in need of a recipe. :) She has taught me the best and most important things that I can teach to my own kids. And my 5 sisters are great examples. They each do their own unique things with their mommy skills that help me figure out ways to improve mine.

One of the best things for me, about being a Mom is the knowledge I have of my role as a wife and mother. No matter how hard, tiring, or frustrating it gets sometimes...I know I am doing the most important thing on this earth. These wonderful babies are Heavenly Fathers children...and I will do everything I can to help them know who they are.

The Dentist

The girlies had their first trip to the dentist this week. They were full of excitement and no nervousness.

They helped each other with the headphones and sunglasses.

They watched 'iCarly' during their cleaning which they thought was pretty cool. Every thing the nurse did in Quinnas mouth her tongue would follow and move around to try and feel what was going on. Even when they try to hold it down with the mirror her little tongue would wiggle free and keep right on searching. Robert said it was sooo funny he was laughing dang hard. The nurse said she had a really curious tongue. They got to pick their favorite color of toothbrushes. (Quinna green and Sam pink.) And they picked out a cool toy.
